PostSubject: Sid The Kid vs. Alexander The Great   Tue May 05, 2009 7:07 pm

There's a very good chance that after the next two games we could have a whole new series again. Both games have been decided by a single goal, and Varlamov has this fetish for going from God to Goat throughout the game.

That said...this series has a lot of really interesting matchups. There's of course the obvious Ovechkin vs. Crosby...but then we have Semin and Malkin. Fleury and Varlamov. Gonchar and Green.

Both teams are physical...both have some of the most exciting players in the game. Last night's game was everything this series SHOULD be. Two hat tricks by the two top players in the game? They couldn't have done it better if they'd planned it. (Well, Sid may have an alternate outcome)

Personally, I'm an Ovie fan. I respect Sid's ability...but geez, he needs to lighten up a little. He's not doing himself any favours by 'crying' to the ref about the amount of hats getting thrown to the ice. That was a big moment for Washington...for Ovechkin...and for the fans. In reality, it was a big moment for Sid as well, because with his three goals, him and Ovie went down in the record books. Not too many games have had that happen...and likely never when it was the two players considered to be the league's best, and in the playoffs no less.

We all know what the stars like Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, Green & Gonchar bring to the table, but in no question this kid Varlamov steals the show without him the Caps would'nt have made it into the 2nd round, he has made some phenomanal saves like the 1 pad save on Crosby to keep them in the game down 5 on 3 no doubt in my mind that this kid is a star, and let's not forget about another young goalie in Carolina named Cam Ward. Saying all that, let's go ROBERTO step up your game and lead the NUCKS all the way.

Well, lets see here, I bought an Ovechkin jersey, and I have been cheering for the Caps since my Avs were eliminated from playoff contention back around the All Star Break. So to answer your question, I voted for Crosby Very Happy

Actually, I really voted for Varlamov, he has been pretty damn good for the Caps.

I love Cam Ward!

On a side note, I loved to see Varlamov stone Crosby, then come up with the huge glove save on Gonchar's rebound blast. Stellar performance by Varlamov.

I love OV, but if I was going to build a team from scratch, I'd pick Syd the Kid. For one reason, he's Canadian! That means a lot, but don't get me wrong, OV can lead a team, dominate an opposition as much or more than Sydney but like I said, the Canadian factor outweighs the others.

Normally, I'd agree with you...but Ovie is one of those rare guys that seems to forget he's NOT canadian. Wink

Kind of like Forsberg, without all the injuries. lol
